The organization was fashioned in 1837 when William Procter, a British candlemaker, and James Gamble, an Irish soapmaker, merged their corporations in Cincinnati. The chief component for each items was animal Fats, which was readily available during the hog-butchering centre of Cincinnati. The organization equipped cleaning soap and candles on the
